UK Defense Chief Mulls New Military Bases In Southeast Asia, Caribbean After Brexit

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 31st December, 2018) UK Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson said in an interview with a local newspaper he was considering having two new military bases built in Southeast Asia and the Caribbean after Brexit.
The minister said he was looking at how to increase the number of UK's forward-deployed military assets as the nation prepares to become a "true global player," according to the Sunday Telegraph.
The outlet cited sources close to Williamson as saying that Singapore, Brunei, Guyana and Montserrat were being considered as possible hosts. The UK's departure from the European Union is set for March.
