Ukraine Continues Policy Against Int'l Treaty Framework With Russia - Foreign Ministry

Ukraine continues its policy against the international treaty framework with Russia, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th September, 2018) Ukraine continues its policy against the international treaty framework with Russia, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Moscow received a note from Kiev about the non-extension of the Russia-Ukraine Friendship Treaty.

"On September 24, in development of the previously published decree by [Ukrainian President] Petro Poroshenko, Russia's Foreign Ministry received the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's official note on 'Kiev's desire to terminate the Russia-Ukraine Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership of May 31, 1997'. Thus, an impetus was given to the continuation of the process of 'clearing out' the entire Ukraine-Russia international treaty framework," the ministry said.

It said the latest anti-Russian statements by the Ukrainian authorities are an attempt to "score points" ahead of elections, adding that Kiev ignores Ukraine's long-term strategic interests.
