The current convocation of the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, will continue its work until new lawmakers are elected, presidential aide Andriy Bohdan told reporters on Tuesday
On Monday, Volodymyr Zelensky was sworn in as the sixth Ukrainian president. After the ceremony he announced his decision to dissolve the parliament.
"We believe and this is envisioned by the constitution that the Verkhovna Rada steps down from office after the new parliament takes the oath [of office]. That is why the Verkhovna Rada is working and will continue to consider [draft] laws," Bohdan said on the 112 Ukraina broadcaster.
Last week, the People's Front party announced its decision to leave the ruling coalition and called for talks on building a new one. According to Ukrainian law, the political parties have 30 days to form a new coalition.
