UNITED NATIONS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th August, 2018) The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said in a statement on Wednesday that it is outraged by the deadly attack in Kabul that killed more than 50 civilians.
"UNAMA outraged by another Kabul attack targeting Shia community and leading to more than 50 civilians, among them many young women, killed and injured at an education centre," the statement said.
The statement added that there is never any justification for targeting civilians "at any time, under any circumstances."
Afghanistan has long been suffering from an unstable security situation. The government has been fighting a Taliban insurgency for almost two decades and has in recent years been battling the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia), which has been operating in Afghanistan since 2015.
