UN Commission On Narcotic Drugs Starts 62 Session In Vienna On Thursday

The 62nd session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) will start in the Austrian capital of Vienna on Thursday to last until March 22, with the ministerial segment set to be held on March 14-15
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th March, 2019) The 62nd session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) will start in the Austrian capital of Vienna on Thursday to last until March 22, with the ministerial segment set to be held on March 14-15.
The ministerial segment of the event will focus on the implementation of joint commitments that were previously made to counter the global drug problem. The ministerial segment will include two roundtables and a number of side events, including bilateral meetings.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who will take part in the ministerial segment, will hold a meeting with Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen on Thursday to discuss bilateral ties, with a special focus on economy cooperation, the relations between Russia and the European Union, and pressing global issues such as the situation in the middle East.
The regular segment of the UN CND 62nd session will start on March 18. Its participants will tackle a wide range of issues, including strategic management, budgetary and administrative issues, implementation of global drug control deals and cooperation with the UN Economic and Social Council.
