The United Nations hopes that Syria donors in Brussels will collect around $6 billion or even a little more for helping Syrians inside and outside the country, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Mark Lowcock told reporters on Thursday
BRUSSELS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th March, 2019) The United Nations hopes that Syria donors in Brussels will collect around $6 billion or even a little more for helping Syrians inside and outside the country, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Mark Lowcock told reporters on Thursday.
"Last year, in our appeals for Syrians in and out of the country we raised $6 billion. Today if get close to this amount, or even a little bit more, it will be a good day," Lowcock said.
In 2018, around $3.5 billion was intended for Syrians inside the country, while the rest was allocated to support neighboring states and Syrians outside of their home country.
