UNITED NATIONS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th December, 2018) UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will participate in the inter-Yemeni negotiations in Stockholm on Thursday, his press office said on Tuesday.
From December 6, UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths has engaged the two Yemeni conflicting parties in talks in the Swedish capital of Stockholm.
"The Secretary-General will take part in the closing day of the Intra-Yemeni political consultations, on Thursday, 13 December," the statement said.
Guterres will meet with both delegations and speak at the final meeting of this round of consultations, the statement says.
Yemen has been engulfed in an armed conflict between the government forces led by President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi and the Houthi rebels for several years. The Saudi-led coalition has been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthis at Hadi's request since March 2015.
