WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd March, 2019) The United States has asked Russia and China to help facilitate arrangements on the Afghan settlement between the United States and Taliban, Russian Presidential Envoy Zamir Kabulov told reporters on Friday.
When asked what the US has asked of Russia and China, Kabulov said, "they asked to help facilitate agreements."
"A very important moment here is to establish a direct dialogue between the broad Afghan delegation, represented not just by the government, but also other political forces of the country and the Taliban," Kabulov said.
Kabulov noted that while the Taliban does not consider the current president to be a partner in the talks, the group has shown some flexibility in the last few months, saying that they are ready to consider including representatives of the Afghan government in the broader Afghani delegation with whom they would be negotiating.
Kabulov was speaking to reporters following a meeting with his US and Chinese counterparts in Washington.
