US, Brazil Reaching Deal To Allow Commercial Space Launches From Brazil - US Official

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th March, 2019) The United States and Brazil are moving forward on an agreement to allow commercial space launches from Brazil, a senior US administration official told reporters.
"We're moving forward in regards to the, as you referred to the technologies safeguard agreement, which we hope will allow for US commercial space launches from Brazil and for closer defense cooperation," the official said on Monday.
The official explained that the United States and Brazil are working to renew their relationship and strengthen bilateral ties mostly through economic and diplomatic efforts, which should be revealed in a joint statement on Tuesday, the official said.
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro is visiting Washington, DC this week Tuesday to meet with US President Donald Trump.
During the talks, the two leaders will discuss a wide range of security concerns in the region, including the situation in Venezuela, according to the White House.
Bolsonaro and Trump also plan to look into opportunities for defense cooperation, pro-growth trade policies and fight against transnational crime.
