HOUSTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 09th March, 2023) American energy firms will work closely with the US government to explore the possibility of helping Ukraine restore its energy infrastructure, Ameren Corporation Executive Chairman Warner Baxter told Sputnik on Thursday.
"Our company and industry - how we participate - that is something we will work very closely with our government," Baxter said on the margins of the CERAWeek energy conference in Houston.
Baxter added that his company is supportive of ensuring Ukraine has a safe and reliable energy system.
The United States has given Ukraine billions of Dollars to help restore its electrical grid and other energy infrastructure damaged by Russian strikes.
Russia began striking Ukrainian infrastructure on October 10, two days after the attack on Russia's Crimean Bridge which Moscow believes was carried out by Ukraine's intelligence services. The strikes are carried out on power, defense industry, military command and communications facilities across Ukraine. Since then, air raid alerts have been issued in Ukrainian regions every day, sometimes throughout the country.
