WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd March, 2019) The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) should improve its quality of unlawful border entry information and other metric reporting, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) said in a report.
"The Secretary of Homeland Security should develop and implement a process to systematically review the reliability of the data used in its Border Security Metrics Report and comprehensively identify any limitations with the data and methodologies that underlie its metrics," the report said on Thursday.
The report revealed that DHS had not disclosed all of the limitations for the data gathered and metrics used.
The report said it found that DHS was using metrics to estimate undetected unlawful border crossers when a methodology for estimating such information for the northern US border was incomplete.
Moreover, the GAO found that DHS also didn't reveal limitations on data related to apprehensions of migrants that were assisted by unmanned aerial systems.
