Special Counsel Robert Mueller is requested to testify before the US House of Representatives Judiciary Committee on his investigation into allegations of Trump-Russia collusion by May 23, Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler said in a letter to Mueller on Thursday
"I request your testimony before the Judiciary Committee as soon as possible - but, in any event, no later than May 23, 2019. I look forward to working with you on a mutually agreeable date," Nadler said.
Earlier on Thursday, US Attorney General William Barr said he would have no objection to Mueller testifying before Congress on his report.
Barr reiterated that Mueller had found no evidence any American colluded or cooperated with Russia in the 2016 US presidential election and said he will release later in the day a redacted report of Mueller's report of the investigation.
Russia has repeatedly refuted claims of interference in the US political system. Russian officials have said the allegations were made up to excuse the election loss of Trump's opponent as well as deflect public attention from actual instances of election fraud and corruption.
