US Intelligence Community Has 45 Days to Review Signs of Election Interference - Coats

The US intelligence community will have a 45-day period to review any signs of meddling after US elections, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said in a conference call on Wednesday.

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th September, 2018) The US intelligence community will have a 45-day period to review any signs of meddling after US elections, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats said in a conference call on Wednesday.

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order today directing Federal agencies to assess and sanctions foreign states, entities or individuals engaged in election meddling.

"There's a 45-day period of time in which the intelligence community through the office of Director of National Intelligence assesses whether or not there has been manipulation and influence that affected the election outcome," Coats said.

The Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security will then have a 45-day period to determine if election meddling did occur, Coats said.
