US-Led Coalition Airstrikes In Syria's Deir Ez-Zor Result In Civilian Casualties - Reports

DAMASCUS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th November, 2018) Airstrikes by the US-led international coalition with the use of cluster munitions in Syria's Deir ez-Zor province on Wednesday led to casualties among the civilian population, Syrian state news agency SANA reported, citing local sources.

"Aircraft of the international coalition on Wednesday carried out airstrikes on residential areas in the city of Hajin and the village of al-Shaafa in the east of Deir-ez-Zor province using cluster munitions, which resulted in the death of several civilians, several others were injured, while significant material damage was caused to residents' houses and property," SANA said.�

The use of cluster bombs is prohibited by the Convention on Cluster Munitions, effective since August 2010 and signed by more than 100 countries. The United States, Russia and several other countries are not part of the pact.
