DAMASCUS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th February, 2019) A series of airstrikes by US-led coalition on a village in Syria's Deir ez-Zor province on Monday killed at least 16 local residents, including seven children, the Syrian state television reported.

"Aviation of the international coalition has committed a new crime: 16 civilians, including seven children, were killed as a result of massive airstrikes on the village of Baguz in the southeastern province of Deir ez-Zor," the Ikhbariya television said, citing local sources.

The US-backed Kurdish militia units on Saturday launched their final push on Baguz, near the border with Iraq, which is considered the last foothold of the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia) in eastern Syria.
