US-Led Coalition Conducts 150 Strikes Against IS in Syria, Iraq - Joint Task Force

The US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State (IS, outlawed in Russia) terrorist group in Iraq and Syria carried out 150 strikes last week, Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in a press release on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 13th November, 2018) The US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State (IS, outlawed in Russia) terrorist group in Iraq and Syria carried out 150 strikes last week, Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in a press release on Tuesday.

"Between Nov. 4 and Nov. 10, CJTF-OIR coalition military forces conducted 150 strikes consisting of 331 engagements in Syria," the release said.

The coalition conducted 146 strikes near Syria's Hajin, destroying command and control centers, tunnels, supply routes, fighting positions, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) facilities and weapons caches, among other targets.

In Iraq, the coalition carried out four strikes near Lake Qadisiyyah, Jazeerah Desert, and Lake Hamrin.

�Those strikes destroyed two buildings, a cave, and one weapons cache, the release said.

The coalition also revealed that it conducted three previously unreported strikes in Iraq near the Khanukah Mountains. The strikes on October 30 and November 2 destroyed caves, buildings, and a bed down location, the release said.

The US-led coalition of more than 70 countries is conducting military operations against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. The coalition's operations in Iraq are conducted in cooperation with the Iraqi government, but those in Syria are not authorized by the government of President Bashar Assad or the UN Security Council.
