WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th November, 2018) A US Federal judge sentenced a man to nine years in prison for conspiring to illegally export weapons components from the United States to Russia, the Justice Department said in a press release.
"Naum Morgovsky, 69, of Hillsborough, California, was sentenced to 108 months in prison and three years of supervised release for conspiring to illegally export components for the production of night-vision and thermal devices to Russia in violation of the Arms Export Control Act, and for laundering the proceeds of the scheme," the release said on Tuesday.
Morgovsky, a naturalized US citizen originally from Ukraine, was also fined $1 million and ordered to forfeit nearly $223,000, the release said, in the scheme to ship the components to a company called Infratech in Moscow.
In October, the release added, the suspect's wife and codefendant, Irina Morgovsky, 67, was sentenced to a year and a half in prison for her role in the scheme. In June, the Morgovskys had pleaded guilty to the illegal export charges.
