US Must Immediately Suspend Nuclear Cooperation With Saudi Arabia - Senators

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th December, 2018) US President Donald Trump's administration must immediately suspend any nuclear agreements with Saudi Arabia until Riyadh answers questions around the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Senators Edward Markey and Jeff Merkley said in a letter.

"It is our view that discussions for a civilian nuclear cooperation agreement should be suspended immediately and indefinitely until Saudi Arabia has been fully truthful and transparent with regard to the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr. Khashoggi," the senators wrote on Tuesday.

The CIA has reportedly concluded with a high level of confidence that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was likely directly involved in the death of Khashoggi, who was murdered at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in early October.

The kingdom has insisted that the killing was a rogue operation that did not involve any members of the royal family.
