MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd February, 2019) US plans to cross the border of Venezuela under the pretext of delivering humanitarian aid are a dangerous provocation, it is fraught with clashes, which will create a convenient excuse for removal of Nicolas Maduro from power, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Friday.
Earlier, the Venezuelan opposition announced that the delivery of humanitarian aid to the country would begin February 23. The Maduro government intends to ban the aid from being supplied to the country.
"The development of events in Venezuela has reached a critical point, everyone understands that. A dangerous large-scale provocation has been set for February 23, Washington-led crossing of the border of Venezuela with a so-called humanitarian convoy, fraught with clashes between supporters and opponents and forming a convenient pretext for a military action to remove from power the current legitimate president of the country," Zakharova said at a briefing.
