US Pouring Funds Into New Provocations in Syria - Russia-Syria Coordination Center

The joint Russia-Syria coordination center on refugee repatriation accused Washington on Tuesday of intending to spend the nearly $400 million that it had recently pledged toward Syria on staging provocations in the Arab country, including those with the use of toxic substances

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th March, 2019) The joint Russia-Syria coordination center on refugee repatriation accused Washington on Tuesday of intending to spend the nearly $400 million that it had recently pledged toward Syria on staging provocations in the Arab country, including those with the use of toxic substances.

The United States pledged last Thursday to donate $397 million to the people of Syria in 2019-2020. While around $135 million will be allocated for humanitarian needs inside Syria, the rest will be provided to neighboring countries that host Syrian refugees.

"Out of the almost $400 million that the US side is donating in support for Syria, the Syrian people will not receive a single cent. The whole amount of money has been distributed between UN agencies and non-governmental organizations ... for ... further funding of provocations, including with the use of toxic substances that White Helmets activists stage," the center said in a statement.

It accused Washington of justifying its aggression against the legitimate Syrian government by staging provocations to accuse Damascus of "brutality."

The center added that the organizers of the recently held third donor conference on Syria in Brussels were only pretending to help the Syrian people while continuing to impose economic sanctions against the crisis-torn country.

The joint Russia-Syria coordination center on refugee repatriation also noted that the almost $7 billion that Syria donors pledged toward Syrian would, in fact, be provided to Syrians in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, not those already in Syria. According to the center, this would promote refugee assimilation abroad instead of upon their return.
