WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th November, 2018) US Deputy National Security Adviser Mira Ricardel is departing the White House for a new role within the Trump administration, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement.
On Tuesday, First Lady Melania Trump through her spokeperson said Ricardel no longer deserved the honor of serving in the White House. The comment came after reports that the First Lady's staff during a trip to Africa last month fought with Ricardel. She was serving as White House National Security Adviser John Bolton's top deputy.
"Mira Ricardel will continue to support the President [Donald Trump] as she departs the White House to transition to a new role within the Administration," Sanders said on Wednesday. "The President is grateful for Ms. Ricardel's continued service to the American people and her steadfast pursuit of his national security priorities."
US media reported Tuesday that President Donald Trump was going to fire Ricardel at the urging of the First Lady. Media reports also claimed that Ricardel did not get along with US Defense Secretary James Mattis.
