US Sen. Warren Says Trump May Be in Jail Before 2020 Presidential Election

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th February, 2019) US Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren believes that US President Donald Trump may not serve his full term as the head of state and might even go to jail before the 2020 presidential election.

Last week, 69 year-old Warren officially announced that she would run for president at the next election.

"By the time we get to 2020, Donald Trump may not even be President ... In fact, he may not even be a free person," Warren said at her meeting with voters in the US Midwestern state of Iowa, as quoted by the CNN broadcaster late on Sunday.

The senator also called on the people to not fall for Trump's dark "racist" and "hateful" tweets.

"Every day, there's a racist tweet, a hateful tweet, something really dark and ugly. And what are we, as candidates, as activists, the press, going to do about it? Are we going to let him use those to divide us?" Warren said.

The relations between Warren and Trump have been strained for a long time as the latter has repeatedly mocked the senator for her claims of Native American heritage and called her "Pocahontas.

The next US presidential election will be held in November 2020. Trump is likely to seek re-election.

Meanwhile, since his election in 2016, the president has been a subject of several investigations, notably the one carried out by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, into his alleged collusion with Russia during the presidential campaign and Moscow's alleged meddling in the US election. Several associates of Trump have been already arrested and indicted as part of Mueller's probe.

Russia has repeatedly refuted the allegations of meddling in the US election, arguing that they had never been substantiated and insisting that Moscow does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries. Trump and the White House have also repeatedly denied allegations of collusion.
