TOKYO (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 10th February, 2019) South Korean President Moon Jae-in and US President Donald Trump are planning to discuss the upcoming summit of Trump and North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un soon, a representative of Moon's administration said on Sunday.
The second Trump-Kim summit will be held in the Vietnamese city of Hanoi on February 27-28.
"The discussion of the US-North Korean summit will take place soon," the representative said at a briefing, specifying that this would be a phone conversation.
He also said that the United States and North Korea had agreed to hold a new round of talks ahead of the summit.
"The United States and North Korea have agreed to continue negotiations in a third country in Asia, during the week starting after February 17," he said.
US Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun and his North Korean counterpart, Kim Hyok Chol, held talks in Pyongyang on February 6-8. They have agreed on the date and venue for the second summit between the two countries' leaders, among other things.
The situation on the Korean Peninsula has improved significantly over the past year after Seoul and Pyongyang concluded important agreements calling for peace and stability in the region, and Kim and Trump held a historic summit in Singapore in June 2018.
