US Special Representative For North Korea To Visit Moscow On Tuesday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th October, 2018) US Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun will pay a visit to Moscow on Tuesday to discuss the situation on the Korean peninsula.
During the visit, Biegun is expected to meet with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov.
The visit comes as the situation in the region has improved after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un held several meetings with South Korean President Moon Jae-in and a summit with US President Donald Trump, resulting in Pyongyang's pledge to denuclearize in exchange for sanctions relief and the halt of joint US-South Korean drills.
Amid this backdrop with North Korea dismantling the Punggye-ri nuclear test site, Russia and China have been pushing for gradually lifting the UN Security Council sanctions imposed on Pyongyang over its nuclear and missile tests.
