MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th February, 2019) The United States is supporting terrorism in Syria by imposing sanctions on Damascus that are not in line with the UN resolutions and attacking positions of the Syrian government army, Bouthaina Shaaban, political and media advisor to Syrian President Bashar Assad, said on Tuesday.
"There are numerous examples of the United States repeatedly opening fire on positions of the Syrian national army. Under such circumstances, Western counties introduce new sanctions against the Syrian Arab Republic which have nothing to do with either UN resolutions or international law.
In this sense, the United States supports terrorism in Syria and does not want to engage in dialogue with the Syrian government, while being always ready to host talks with heads of terrorist groups," Shaaban said at the panel session of the Valdai discussion club's middle East conference.
The official added that the United States was trying with all its might to destroy Syria and undermine its infrastructure by supporting terror groups that could assist the United States in promoting its interests.
