US to Allocate $5.8Bln to Support Development of Central American Countries - Mexico City

MEXICO CITY (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th December, 2018) The United States has promised to invest $5.8 billion to support the development in the Central American countries and prevent the flow of migrants, Mexico's Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said on Tuesday.

"The United States has promised to allocate a total of $5.

8 billion from private and public funds for institutional reforms and economic development of the Northern Triangle," Ebrard said as quoted by the ministry.

The Northern Triangle of Central America refers Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

Since October, thousands of migrants from Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador, have arrived at the US-Mexico border, with many of them seeking asylum in the United States.
