US View On Regional Issues Through Prism Of Countering Iran Dangerous - Lavrov

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st December, 2018) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday that it was dangerous to view all regional problems through the prism of countering Iran as the United States and its allies do.
"It is very dangerous to try to view all regional problems through the prism of fight against Iran, as we have seen it, unfortunately, from the United States and some of its allies. This is a very dangerous line that stirs up confrontation that threatens to explode inside the Islamic world between Shiites and Sunnis. And if it happens, the Palestinian problem will simply sink into new, much more painful ordeals that this region has ever faced," Lavrov said at a press conference.
In May, US President Donald Trump announced that the United States would withdraw from the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), commonly referred to as the Iran nuclear deal, and would reimpose sanctions against Tehran, aiming to force Iran to curb its nuclear, missile and regional activities. On August 7, the United States reinstated the first round of US sanctions against Iran. Washington declared its goal to bring Iran's oil exports to zero and urged its buyers to abandon such purchases.
