US Will Not Risk Destruction Of Haifa, Tel Aviv By Attacking Iran - Revolutionary Guards

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th February, 2019) The United States will not attack Iran because such an attack would prompt the Islamic republic to destroy the Israeli cities of Haifa and Tel Aviv, deputy head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Yadollah Javani said on Monday.

"Despite all its military and defensive capacities, the United States has no courage to open fire at us. The United States should know that if it attacks us, we will destroy Tel Aviv and Haifa," Javani said during celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the end of the Islamic Revolution, as quoted by the IRNA news agency.

Israel is a traditional US ally in the middle East that views Iran as a permanent threat to its national security and tries to undermine positions of the pro-Iranian forces in neighboring Lebanon and Syria.

In 1979, the Islamic Revolution toppled Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, a pro-US leader, worsening US-Iranian relations, an impact which is still felt today.
