US Working With Argentina To Curb Proliferation Of Weapons Of Mass Destruction - Mattis

The United States is working with Argentina to boost cooperation in defense, including bilateral efforts to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction, US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis said during a visit to Buenos Aires on Wednesday.
WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th August, 2018) The United States is working with Argentina to boost cooperation in defense, including bilateral efforts to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction, US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis said during a visit to Buenos Aires on Wednesday.
"Today we, too, look to build on our shared foundation of defense cooperation," Mattis said. "We are working together across a wide range of issues from humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations to non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
"
Mattis added that both nations are also engaging in transparent bilateral working groups in military-to-military engagements.
The secretary said he looks forward to finding new ways to deepen the mutually-beneficial defense relationship between the United States and Argentina.
Mattis is currently on his first trip to South America as US defense chief to meet with his counterparts in the region. Mattis was in Brazil on Monday and will also visit Chile and Colombia this week.
