MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 04th April, 2019) Venezuela and Russian specialists are discussing the possibilities of cooperation in protecting the country's electrical power system, Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Gil told Sputnik during the first meeting of Russian-Venezuelan entrepreneurs held during the Russian-Venezuelan high-level intergovernmental commission.

"During this meeting of the intergovernmental commission, we are discussing the details of how the Russian Federation, local enterprises, and institutions can help strengthen the national [Venezuelan] electrical power system and protect it from external attacks in particular," Gil said.

The meeting of Russian and Venezuelan entrepreneurs is taking place on April 4-5 in Moscow in the framework of the 14th meeting of the Russian-Venezuelan high-level intergovernmental commission.

Venezuela has been suffering from power outrages since early March. While the first major blackout happened on March 7, leaving 21 out of 23 states without electricity, power outrages continued later in the month. Caracas blamed Washington for all attacks that the country's electrical power system has suffered.
