Venezuela Warns Caribbean Nations Against Helping US Invasion

Venezuela has warned the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and other Caribbean nations against serving as a springboard for a suspected US invasion, in a statement published Thursday by its foreign minister, Jorge Arreaza
"Venezuela expresses concerns about strong signs that the US is using the territories of some Caribbean nations as platforms for planning and organizing operations of illegal and terrorist nature," the tweeted statement reads.
Arreaza said he had established contacts with Caribbean governments to alert them to "unauthorized use" of their territories in preparation for the attack, which aims to overthrow Venezuela's legitimate government and replace it with a "puppet" regime.
Venezuela closed the border and suspended air links on Wednesday with Caribbean islands ahead of this Saturday's attempt by US-backed Venezuelan opposition to bring in relief aid, which has been flown to the island of Curacao. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who is recognized by Russia, China and several others, called the delivery a prelude to invasion.
