Neighbours said that the cars parked at the mosque three days on is a chilly reminder of the tragedy. They know many owners will never return to collect them.

The violent shooting in two mosques rocked New Zealand's eastern city of Christchurch on Friday, leaving 50 killed and dozens injured.

Police outside the Al Noor mosque continued to sweep the street for evidence on Sunday, marking up cars where bullets may have hit or ricocheted.

Meanwhile, workers at a Christchurch cemetery continue the daunting task of digging graves for those killed.
