Vucic Calls Putin's January Visit Crucial Event For Serbian-Russian Relations

BELGRADE (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th March, 2019) The visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Serbia in January is one of the most important events for further development of the bilateral relations, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday.
On Sunday, Vucic met the head of Russia's foreign cooperation agency Rossotrudnichestvo Eleonora Mitrofanova, who on Saturday visited the ceremony of signing an agreement between the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Russian company Gazprom Neft on further Russian participation in the decoration work in the Church of Saint Sava in Belgrade.
"President Vucic has once again pointed out that the visit of Vladimir Putin this January was one of the most important events for the Serbian-Russian relations with far-reaching political and economic consequences," the administration of Vucic said.
Vucic also thanked Russia for its ongoing financial support for the decoration work in the Church of Saint Sava.
The Serbian leader also praised Russian support for the Serbian position on the Kosovo issue in UNESCO and other international organizations.
Putin visited Serbia on January 17 with Moscow and Belgrade having signed a number of bilateral agreements during the visit.
