Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Belgrade in January will become the most productive ever in terms of substance and the number of agreements to be signed, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Wednesday.
The statement was made during Vucic's meeting with Russian Ambassador in Belgrade Alexander Chepurin. Putin's forthcoming visit was among the main topics of the talks.
"I am sure that his [Putin's] visit will become the most fruitful ever in terms of substance, the number of agreements, which we will sign, and their meaning for various areas of people's life," Vucic said at the meeting, as broadcast by the RTS broadcaster.
Vucic noted that energy, infrastructure and innovative technologies are seen as priority areas for cooperation by Serbia.
"Once again, I want to thank the Russian president and you for the support for the Serbian people and Serbia in preserving its territorial integrity, and the support for [Belgrade's] efforts to reach a compromise solution [to the Kosovo issue], rather than a solution [reached] as a result of pressure and blackmail," he told the Russian ambassador.
Vucic also expressed his satisfaction with the results of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov's visit to Belgrade earlier in November, which resulted in substantive discussions of bilateral cooperation in energy, transport, infrastructure, industry and peaceful use of nuclear energy.
Putin's visit to Belgrade is expected to take place in mid-January, however, the exact date is yet to be revealed.
