Washington Notifies Moscow About Trump-Putin Meeting Cancellation - White House

NEW YORK (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 30th November, 2018) The White House notified the Kremlin that a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin scheduled to take place at the G2- summit in Buenos Aires was canceled, a National Security Council spokesman told Sputnik.

"Yes," the spokesman said on Thursday when asked whether the United States has notified Russia of the meeting between Trump and Putin being canceled.

Earlier on Thursday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Russian government had not received any official information from the United States regarding the Trump-Putin meeting being canceled.

Peskov pointed out that the Kremlin learned about the cancellation from a message Trump posted on Twitter.

Trump wrote via Twitter on Thursday that he had decided to cancel the meeting with Putin after receiving a report on the incident in the Kerch Strait, in which Russian border patrol detained Ukrainian Navy ships and sailors for illegally crossing the Russian water border.
