WTO Establishes Arbitration Panel In Russia-US Dispute Over Steel, Aluminum Tariffs

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st November, 2018) The World Trade Organization (WTO) established on Wednesday an arbitration panel in a dispute between Russia and the United States over additional duties on steel and aluminum, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development said.
"At a meeting of the WTO's Dispute Resolution Authority (DRA) on November 21, a decision was made to establish an arbitration panel in a dispute initiated by Russia to appeal additional US duties on steel and aluminum imports.
..," the press service said in a statement.
In addition to Russia, US tariffs are also being appealed by China, India, the EU, Canada, Mexico, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey. The establishment of arbitration panels in those cases also took place on Wednesday.
According to the WTO dispute resolution procedure, the establishment of a panel is requested after the stage of formal consultations, if the parties do not find a mutually acceptable way to resolve the dispute without consideration by the arbitrators.
