Xi Commends Outcome Of China-Russia Defense Industry Cooperation Commission's Meeting

BEIJING (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th October, 2018) Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed on Friday the outcome of the 23rd meeting of the Russian-Chinese intergovernmental commission on defense industry cooperation and thanked in this regard Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

Earlier in the day, the meeting of the Russian-Chinese intergovernmental commission was held with the participation of the Russian defense minister and Col. Gen. Zhang Youxia, the vice chairman of the Chinese Central Military Commission, in Beijing.

"You held a successful meeting of the commission on defense industry cooperation with the Chinese comrades this time. I would like to sincerely congratulate you on this success," Xi said at the meeting with Shoigu.

Xi recalled the recent detailed exchange of views on defense cooperation with Shoigu that took place within the framework of the meeting of the defense ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states in China in April.

The Chinese president also asked Shoigu to extend best wishes to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I am asking you to say hello and extend best wishes to my old friend Mr Putin," Xi said.

On Thursday, Shoigu arrived with an official visit in China to hold the meeting of the Russian-Chinese intergovernmental commission and to set the priorities of the bilateral military cooperation for the next year.
