Numerous protesters filled on Saturday the Champs-Elysees street of the French capital of Paris to kick off the 15th rally of the yellow vest movement, a Sputnik correspondent reported
The protesters started to gather at the center of Paris before 11:00 a.m. (10:00 GMT). The rally started at 12:30 local time with the activists singing La Marseillaise, the national hymn of France.
The rally will head for the Place du Trocadero through the Place de l'Opera, Palais-Royal square, Place Vauban and the Pont de l'Alma bridge.
Police boosted security measures near the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysees. The traffic on the Champs-Elysees is closed.
The rallies are also taking place in other cities of France.
Large-scale demonstrations erupted in France on November 17 in the wake of the government's decision to raise fuel prices and increase fuel tax. Even though the French authorities later scrapped their plans, the yellow vest protesters, dissatisfied with the government's social policies, continued to rally across the country.
