STOCKHOLM (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 08th December, 2018) : The Yemeni government delegation has discussed at peace talks in Stockholm ways to improve humanitarian access to the Yemeni city of Taiz, Rana Ghanem, a member of the delegation, told reporters on Saturday.
The UN-mediated talks between the Yemeni government and the Houthis started on Thursday.
"Every team has three subgroups, each subgroup has to discuss one topic independently. I am a member of Taiz group. We didn't meet with Houthis, we met only with [UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths] and we just finished discussing with Martin how to improve humanitarian access and ceasing the blockage of Houthis to the northern area of Taiz," Ghanem said.
Yemen has been engulfed in an armed conflict between the government forces led by President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi and the Houthi rebels. The Saudi-led coalition has been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthis at Hadi's request since March 2015.
Taiz, the country's third largest city, has been on the front line of the conflict since the end of 2016.
