Zotye To Become First Chinese Company To Sell Autos In US Under Own Brand Name

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th November, 2018) Zotye will become the first Chinese-made automobile brand to be sold in the United States under its own name with plans for a sales and distribution network that were announced in a company press release.
"We have begun setting up a franchised dealer network to handle sales and service in America," the release said on Tuesday. "We've had discussions with several major dealers already and will have more to say about that in the months to come. Zotye USA will be [the] first Chinese company to sell vehicles in the United States under Its own Chinese brand name.
"
The company's first US product with be an suburban vehicle (SUV) although the specific model has not been announced, the release said.
Sales to retail customers in the United States are expected to begin in 2020, the release added.
The vehicles will initially be imported from China where they are currently designed, engineered and produced by one of China's leading automakers, Zotye Automobile International, according to the release.
