Hadith About Parents

Parents are the most respected and loved members of the family. They are the ones who brought you into this world, educate you, feed you, and let you learn better ways to live your life. And when they grow old, every child must take a great deal of care for their parents. Your dealing with your parents must be polite, gentle and you should never speak with them in harsh words.

In addition, our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) enforced every Muslim to take a great deal of care for their parents. They are the ones who took care of you when you knew nothing, and they brought you up, gave you everything that you own today because of them. Furthermore, you can not deny the sacrifices your parents have given in your upbringing. Your mother and father, when you were children, spent sleepless nights just to make you comfortable whenever you were sick and not in good health.

Parents have certain rights to their children and they have to fulfill them cheerfully as they did to you when you were young. The rights of parents are well elaborated in Islam. Moreover, Islam emphasizes listening to your parent's advice with obedience in all matters except if they ask to do things against Islam and its teachings. Otherwise, you are bound to listen and act upon the advice of your parents in full.
