The verbal meaning of Baqarah in the Arabic language is a cow. The most important and the lengthiest of all the surahs of the Holy Quran. It is the surah whose last two verses were revealed during the Mi’raj of our beloved Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW). It is a Madni surah.

Saying of our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) about reciting Surah Baqrah

  • Our beloved Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) said: “Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah by night that will suffice him.”
  • Our beloved Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) narrated, “Do not turn your houses into graves. Verily, Shaytan does not enter the house where Surah Al-Baqarah is recited.”
