Dhul-Hijjah Calendar
It is the last month of the Islamic calendar. The Dhul-Hijjah is also known as Zu al-Hajj. It is one of the four scary months. The four scary months of the Islamic calendar are Muharram, Rajab, Dhul Qadah, and Dhul Hijjah. Hajj is an important event of Islam that is performed this month. Dhul-Hijjah is also known as the month of Pilgrimage. Muslims from all over the world travel towards the Makkah and Madina to perform Hajj. Hajj is performed on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of this month.
Events of Dhul-Hijjah
Dhul-Hijjah has the following events throughout the month.
- Muslims fast during the first nine days of the month. The first nine days have special blessings for the people who fast and offer prayers to Allah Almighty.
- 8th, 9th, and 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah are for Hajj. Muslims perform Hajj in memory of the world’s great sacrifice.
- The ninth of Dhul-Hijjah is celebrated as the day of Arafat. Muslims of the entire world celebrate this day with religious enthusiasm.
- Eid ul Adha is celebrated on the 10th, 11th, and 12th of the month. Eid event is also known as the festival of sacrifice. This eid is celebrated in honor of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS). He (AS) was agreed to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismail (AS). Muslims sacrifice cows, goats, and camels to honor the obedience of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).
- On 1st Dhul-Hijjah Hazrat Ali (RA) bin Abu Talib got married to Hazrat Fatima (RA) binte Muhammad (SAW).
- On the 24th of this month, Hazrat Ali (RA) became the 4th caliph of Islam.
