خبر بھی ہے یہ خرد آگ کے پتلے جنوں کے زیر اثر رہے ہیں
سروں پہ سورج اٹھانے والے خود اپنے سائے سے ڈر رہے ہیں
سکوں سے مرتے ہیں مرنے والے جنہیں اجالوں کی ہے تمنا
یہی بہت ہے کہ سوئے مقتل چراغ شام و سحر رہے ہیں
انہیں بھروسہ دو زندگی کا جنہیں محبت ہے زندگی سے
اجل کے ہم نقش پا پہ چل کر فنا کی حد سے گزر رہے ہیں
رہ وفا میں جو بڑھ چکے ہیں وہ پاؤں پیچھے نہ ہٹ سکیں گے
تم اپنے حد ستم سے گزرو ہمیں جو کرنا ہے کر رہے ہیں
بجائے زہراب کس نے ساقی بھرے ہیں امرت سے جام و ساغر
کہ لوگ آب حیات پی کر قضا سے پہلے ہی مر رہے ہیں

saron pe suraj uThane wale KHud apne sae se Dar rahe hain
sukun se marte hain marne wale jinhen ujalon ki hai tamanna
yahi bahut hai ki su-e-maqtal charagh-e-sham-o-sahar rahe hain
unhen bharosa do zindagi ka jinhen mohabbat hai zindagi se
ajal ke hum naqsh-e-pa pe chal kar fana ki had se guzar rahe hain
rah-e-wafa mein jo baDh chuke hain wo panw pichhe na haT sakenge
tum apne hadd-e-sitam se guzro hamein jo karna hai kar rahe hain
bajae zahrab kis ne saqi bhare hain amrit se jam-o-saghar
ki log aab-e-hayat pi kar qaza se pahle hi mar rahe hain
