ہم ایسے سوئے بھی کب تھے ہمیں جگا لاتے

کچھ ایک خواب تو شب خون سے بچا لاتے

زیاں تو دونوں طرح سے ہے اپنی مٹی کا

ہم آب لاتے کہ اپنے لیے ہوا لاتے

پتہ جو ہوتا کہ نکلے گا چاند جیسا کچھ

ہم اپنے ساتھ ستاروں کو بھی اٹھا لاتے

ہمیں یقین نہیں تھا خود اپنی رنگت پر

ہم اس زمیں کی ہتھیلی پہ رنگ کیا لاتے

بس اور کچھ بھی نہیں چاہتا تھا میں تم سے

ذرا سی چیز تھی دنیا کہیں چھپا لاتے

ہمارے عزم کی شدت اگر سمجھنی تھی

تو اس سفر میں کوئی سخت مرحلہ لاتے
