مثال برگ کسی شاخ سے جھڑے ہوئے ہیں
اسی لیے تو ترے پاؤں میں پڑے ہوئے ہیں
زمیں نے اونچا اٹھایا ہوا ہے ورنہ دوست
ہوا میں گھاس کے تنکے کہاں پڑے ہوئے ہیں
کسی نے میری زمیں چھان کر نہیں دیکھی
وگرنہ کتنے ستارے یہاں پڑے ہوئے ہیں
یہاں سروں پہ یوں ہی برف آ پڑی ورنہ
بڑے بھی عمر سے اپنی کہاں بڑے ہوئے ہیں
کسی کے حکم سے ایسا جمود طاری ہے
زمیں روانہ ہوئی اور ہم کھڑے ہوئے ہیں
