سواد شام نہ رنگ سحر کو دیکھتے ہیں
بس اک ستارۂ وحشت اثر کو دیکھتے ہیں
کسی کے آنے کی جس سے خبر بھی آتی نہیں
نہ جانے کب سے اسی رہ گزر کو دیکھتے ہیں
خدا گواہ کہ آئینۂ نفس ہی میں ہم
خود اپنی زندگیٔ مختصر کو دیکھتے ہیں
تو کیا بس ایک ٹھکانا وہی ہے دنیا میں
وہ در نہیں تو کسی اور در کو دیکھتے ہیں
سنا ہے شہر کا نقشہ بدل گیا محفوظؔ
تو چل کے ہم بھی ذرا اپنے گھر کو دیکھتے ہیں
