ملے تو ہم آج بھی ہیں لیکن

نہ میرے دل میں وہ تشنگی تھی

کہ تجھ سے مل کر کبھی نہ بچھڑوں

نہ آج تجھ میں وہ زندگی تھی

کہ جسم و جاں میں ابال آئے

نہ خواب زاروں میں روشنی تھی

نہ میری آنکھیں چراغ کی لو

نہ تجھ میں ہی خود سپردگی تھی

نہ بات کرنے کی کوئی خواہش

نہ چپ ہی میں خوبصورتی تھی

مجسموں کی طرح تھے دونوں

نہ دوستی تھی نہ دشمنی تھی

مجھے تو کچھ یوں لگا ہے جیسے

وہ ساعتیں بھی گزر گئی ہیں

کہ جن کو ہم لا زوال سمجھے

وہ خواہشیں بھی تو مر گئی ہیں

جو تیرے میرے لہو کی حدت

کو آخرش برف کر گئی ہیں

محبتیں شوق کی چٹانوں

سے گھاٹیوں میں اتر گئی ہیں

وہ قربتیں وہ جدائیاں سب

غبار بن کر بکھر گئی ہیں

اگر یہ سب کچھ نہیں تو بتلا

وہ چاہتیں اب کدھر گئی ہیں
