خواب ہے خواب کی تعبیر نہیں

یہ رہائی کی تمنا کیا ہے

جب مرے پاؤں میں زنجیر نہیں

صبح میری طرح آباد نہیں

شام میری طرح دلگیر نہیں

کیوں ابھر آیا تری یاد کا چاند

جب اجالا مری تقدیر نہیں

سنگ میں پھول کھلانے والو

فن یہاں باعث توقیر نہیں

بات کہنے کا سلیقہ ہے غزل

شاعری حسن ہے تقریر نہیں

دل اسی آگ میں جلتا ہے ظفرؔ

ہائے جس آگ میں تنویر نہیں
