Akbar Hussain Rizvi, popularly known as Akbar Allahabadi was born in November 1846. He first finished his basic education at 'madrasas' (religious elementary schools) which was the tradition for most Muslim children at that time. He later went on to college to study law and ended up retiring as a sessions judge from Allahabad High Court. Akbar allahbadi was an Indian Urdu poet mainly known for satire in his poetry. He worked on the specifics genre of          Ghazal, Masnavi, Qita, Rubai. He published three 'kulliyats' (collection of his poems), the fourth volume was published in 1948."Hangaama Hai Kyuun Barpa, Thodi Sii Jo Pii Lii Hai" His poem sung by the ghazal singer Ghulam Ali in the early 1980s. "Bas Jaan Gaya Mein Teri Pehchaan Yehi Hai, Tuu Dil Mein Tau Aata Hai, Samajh Mein NahinAata", A Hamd song ( in praise of God) by Mehdi Hassan, a Radio Pakistan production from the early 1970s. Akbar Allahabadi died on 15 February 1921.
